Happy 4th July 2018

Celebrating two amazing women I met and worked with during my time in Hong Kong. They both happened to be American and it’s fitting to pay tribute to them on Independence Day.

How do we talk about America without mentioning Donald Trump? In my anger at everything he stands for, today on Independence Day,  I want to acknowldge the millions of Americans who are living very different lives from the one he would impose on them and they are doing it with grace and dignity. I want to tell you about two such Americans who crossed my path when I lived in Hong Kong and try to share just how much of a difference they made to me then and continue to have on me now. I spent three years sitting next to them, learning and absorbing everything they did. I was thirsty for professional knowledge and I sucked them dry! They were both very spiritual people, one a committed Christian and the other a committed Jew. Their faith shone through in the way they conducted their lives, they didn’t need to preach…
